Afghanistan, What Holds In The Future?

What’s it about?

Afghanistan is located in Central Asia with Iran to the west and Pakistan to the east. Tall, forbidding mountains and dry deserts cover most of the landscape of Afghanistan.

The people of Afghanistan form a complex mosaic of ethnic and linguistic groups. No national census has been conducted in Afghanistan since a partial count in 1979, and years of war and population dislocation have made an accurate ethnic count impossible.

Who’s telling the story?

Pritpal Singh was born in Afghanistan and is based in the UK. A young adventurous Afghan Sikh, he had left Afghanistan more than 2 decades ago.

Known as TheAfghanDutchSikh on social media channels, he is the filmmaker behind the documentaries ‘Mission Afghanistan‘ and ‘Hindu Khush to Thames‘, both publicly available on YouTube.

Mission Afghanistan‘ documents the suffering of fellow Afghan Sikhs and Hindus communities in Afghanistan. It portrays the life and hardships of minorities in War-torn Afghanistan.”

Hindu Khush to Thames‘ focuses on the Afghan Sikh and Hindu communities, but this time through the lens of Afghan immigrants to the UK, particularly Southall in London.

In 2019 he was awarded the Tomorrow’s Hope Project Media Prize for his work in Afghan media. He is a sought-after voice and advocate for the Afghan Sikh community.
